Ask any Virginia Beach car accident lawyer, and they’ll tell you that most car accidents are caused by a simple mistake. A driver changes lanes without looking in their rearview mirror. Or, they try to make a turn and end up cutting off an entire lane of cars. This is exactly what happened in Virginia Beach on Sunday morning. The crash happened at the intersection of Northampton Boulevard and Baker Road at about 5 a.m. on October 6. The Virginia Beach crash leaves 4 injured.
Two cars were both driving westbound on Northampton Blvd. when the car in the middle lane decided to make a right-hand turn. Rather than waiting for the coast to clear, the driver veered into the right lane and crashed into another vehicle.
The Virginia Beach Police Department responded to the accident. When they got there, they found several people with very serious injuries. In fact, the accident was so dangerous, the Fatal Accident Crash Team went to the scene to start their investigation. This investigation is still ongoing.
The driver who was attempting the turn crashed into the passenger side of the other vehicle. The passenger, along with 3 other people, were rushed to the hospital with their injuries. There is no report on their condition.
Authorities confirmed that the driver who caused the crash was issued a ticket for an Unsafe Lane Change. There’s no information on whether any other criminal charges will be filed. There was also no mention of alcohol or drugs being involved in the crash.
The investigation will hopefully reveal exactly what caused the driver to attempt this illegal turn. The names of the victims have still not been released.
