News: Virginia Beach Fire Department employee hit by truck

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – An employee of the Virginia Beach Fire Department was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a truck on Tuesday afternoon, 13 News Now reports.

Art Kohn, the department’s public information officer, was listed in critical condition following the accident. Officials say he was walking along Rudee Point Road near Southside Road when he was hit at about 2:30 p.m.

The driver involved stayed at the scene. The accident is under investigation.

Police said they did not believe that Kohn’s injuries are life-threatening. A fire department source said he was out of surgery on Wednesday morning.

Before joining the fire department, Kohn was a long-time employee of WAVY, where he was a military reporter.
