VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Virginia Beach police tweeted that they were responding to an accident that left a pedestrian injured Saturday afternoon.

The person was hit by a vehicle on Atlantic Avenue in the area of 25th Street, in an incident that was reported at 5:22 p.m. Police said the victim sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was detained following the crash. Atlantic Avenue was shut down to traffic at 25th Street. No further information was released.
