SUFFOLK, VA – Major traffic delays were reported Wednesday afternoon following a vehicle crash in Suffolk, according to Virginia 511.
The accident happened at the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel North, and was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m.
All northbound lanes were closed and the backups stretched for about one and a half miles, officials said.
A detour was in place at the scene of the accident, and traffic was being rerouted to exit 9A for the Western Freeway.
