Elderly Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Virginia Beach

Whenever there is a multi-vehicle accident, people are bound to get hurt. With so many cars involved in the impact, someone could be seriously hurt or even killed. Unfortunately, this is what happened in Virginia Beach on the morning of Halloween. Where an elderly man killed in a multi-vehicle crash.

The accident happened at about 5 a.m. on Interstate-264, right near Independence Boulevard in Virginia Beach. A 2002 Kia was pulled over, clearly disabled, in a closed lane. A man driving a 2006 Ford F-150 was heading eastbound on the interstate when he saw the disabled car and pulled up behind it. Presumably, the driver of the pickup truck wanted to make sure the people in the Kia were okay or see if they needed help.

The lane that the Kia and the Ford F-150 were in was obviously closed. In fact, the police confirmed that there was a large red “X” in front of the lane to alert people to the lane closure.

Moments later, Cecilio Pulgar was driving his 2015 Nissan Altima when, for some reason, he pulled into the closed lane as well. He rear-ended the pickup truck, which caused his car to veer back into the open lanes of traffic. Unfortunately, the lane he drove into was already occupied by a 2007 Mac Dump truck.

Sadly, Pulgar was killed in the accident. He was an 81-year old man from Virginia Beach. Nobody else was seriously injured in the crash. The police investigation is still ongoing. So far, the authorities haven’t stated what caused the crash. Nor do they know why three (3) vehicles were traveling in a lane that was clearly marked closed.
