Virginia Beach Man Killed in 2-Car Crash in Norfolk

The police responded to a 2-car crash in Norfolk Saturday at about 4:20 am. Whenever they see a crash at this time of night, they think the worst. These crashes tend to involve alcohol or drugs. In this case, however, impairment does not seem to be a factor. The police will still likely run toxicology tests to confirm if this was in fact the case.

Someone was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra in the westbound lanes of Interstate-64 near Military Highway. They ended up crashing into the back of a 2008 Mazda Mz3. The man driving the Nissan was Vincent Daniels. He was a 40-year old resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

After hitting the Mazda, Daniels ended up losing control of his car. It was sent off the road and he crashed into a wall. Unfortunately, Daniels died upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mazda was treated at the scene and is said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Their name has not yet been released.

The police did confirm that Vincent Daniels was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. There is no indication if that would have made a difference. The impact when his vehicle hit the wall was so great that he may have still passed away from his injuries.

Thankfully, there were no other passengers in either of the cars. And no other motorists were injured during the crash. The second driver was treated at the scene and was not taken to the hospital. There has been no update on their medical condition.
