Single Car Accident in Albemarle County, Virginia Dies

With the COVID-19 virus keeping so many people at home, there are fewer accidents on the quiet roads in Virginia Beach. However, people still need to get to and from work or the grocery store. This doesn’t explain exactly why there would be a single car accident after midnight, but that is what happened this week in Albemarle County.

Police responded to a single-car crash in the early hours of Wednesday morning on April 29, 2020. The crash happened in the 5800 block of Plank Road near Bundoran Farm Road. The North Garden police and fire and rescue arrived at the scene just minutes after the crash took place.

A 4-door sedan was traveling along Plank Road when the driver lost control of the car. The car left the road on the right side and ended up crashing into a tree. Sadly, both the driver and the passenger died at the scene and were pronounced dead. Their names have not been released as the police are still working on contacting the victims’ next of kin.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the police have no idea what caused the driver to lose control of the car. There has been no indication that drugs or alcohol played any role in the crash – however, that has not been confirmed either way.

Authorities have confirmed that this is the 5th fatal car crash in Albemarle County so far this year. Once the families are notified, more details should be released. The police have not indicated how they know what caused the crash. However, they did state that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
