18-year-old killed when vehicle runs off road in Accomack County

ACCOMACK, VA – Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash that killed a teenager in Accomack County over the weekend.

According to WAVY, the accident happened Sunday morning in Bloxom on Guards Shore Road between Ridge Road and Winterville Road.

Investigators said a driver went off the road and hit a tree while going west on Guards Shore Road at about 4 a.m.  The driver, who was partially ejected, died at the scene. He was later identified as 18-year-old Shawn Michael Turner.

State police believe speed was a factor in the fatal wreck.  They said Turner was not wearing his seat belt.
