News: Recycling worker killed after being struck in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, VA – A worker with a local recycling company was struck and killed by a passenger vehicle while on the job Thursday.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, 57-year-old Matthew Pitchford stepped out of a TFC Recycling truck within the 9800 block of River Road and was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee attempting to drive around the vehicle.

Pitchford was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Jeep remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. It is unclear whether they will face criminal charges.
