News: Pedestrian killed following Virginia Beach accident

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Officials with the Virginia Beach Police are investigating the cause of an accident that killed a female pedestrian Friday night.

According to WAVY, the accident occurred within the 500 block of North Birdneck Road at about 7:30 p.m. Police believe the woman was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a southbound vehicle.

One witness attempted life-saving efforts on the woman before paramedics arrived. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

Officials shut down all lanes of North Birdneck Rd. for several hours while the crash was investigated and cleared from the roadway.

No information regarding the driver involved in the collision has been released.
