Pedestrian hit by vehicle in Hampton suffers life-threatening injuries

HAMPTON, VA – Police were on the scene of an accident in Hampton Monday morning that left a pedestrian severely injured, WAVY reports.

The person was struck by a vehicle in the 300 block of East Mercury Boulevard at about 5:45 a.m. The victim, an adult, was transported to the hospital with injuries that were described as life-threatening.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The circumstances that led up to the incident are not yet clear.

The crash shut down East Mercury Boulevard in both directions from Pembroke Avenue to Woodland Road while police investigated.
