News: One killed in tractor-trailer accident on I-95

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA – A woman was killed following a multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-95 Saturday morning.

According to NBC Washington, the collision occurred within the southbound lanes of I-95 near the Occoquan River at about 10:00 a.m.

Officials with the Virginia State Police say the truck driver approached stopped traffic at a high rate of speed, then ran off the side of the road in an apparent attempt to avoid a collision. The truck hit a guardrail, a Lexus IS 250, and a Hyundai Tuscon.

The driver of the Hyundai, 33-year-old Ana Beatriz Cruz-Bonilla was rushed to the hospital, where she died. Her passenger was also hospitalized in critical condition.

No occupants in the tractor-trailer or Lexus was injured in the collision. The driver is facing charges of reckless driving.
