Man killed when car runs off road and crashes in Surry County

SURRY COUNTY, VA – A passenger was killed in a single-car crash in Surry County Tuesday, according to the Smithfield Times.

Virginia State Police said Christina R. Mramor was driving a Mazda Tribute on Route 10 east of Route 680 when she lost control of the car shortly before 2 p.m.

The vehicle went off the road, hit a tree stump and rolled over, investigators said. A passenger in the front seat, 20-year-old Malcom R. Johnson of Ivor, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.

Mramor and a backseat passenger were hospitalized with injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening.

Authorities are investigating the fatal wreck.
