VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – A man is facing several charges after police say he tried to flee the scene of a fatal crash in Virginia Beach Friday night.

This is an update to a previous story.

According to WAVY, 26-year-old Kenneth Ka’Von Grant was arrested a short distance from the crash scene after attempting to get away on foot.  Investigators say he had caused an accident at the intersection of Holland Road and Governors Way at 8 p.m. that killed the woman driving the other car. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Lyree Dawn Vaughn.

Among the charges facing Grant are involuntary manslaughter, DWI, and hit-and-run causing personal injury.  It is his third DWI offense in the past 10 years, authorities said.

Grant was treated for minor injuries and then taken to the Virginia Beach City Jail.
