News: Driver killed, passenger injured in accident on Route 58

SUFFOLK, VA – A driver was killed and a passenger was injured when their vehicle crashed on Route 58 East Sunday afternoon. According to 13 News Now, the accident occurred near Chesapeake city limits shortly before 3:30 p.m.

The two people in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital, where the driver—later identified as 21-year-old Xavier Maurice Austin of Suffolk—died. The passenger’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police were continuing to investigate the cause of the crash Monday afternoon.
