News: Driver injured after vehicle struck by train in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, VA – A driver was seriously injured when a train struck their vehicle in downtown Suffolk Friday morning.

According to WAVY, the vehicle was hit by a Norfolk Southern train at the railroad crossing at Liberty Street at about 5 a.m.

Police said the driver survived the accident, and was the only person in the vehicle at the time. The person’s identity has not yet been released.  The incident did not lead to a derailment.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
