News: Chesterfield man in custody after fleeing scene of deadly crash

CHESTERFIELD, VA – The driver involved in a fatal single-vehicle crash that killed one of his passengers was arrested after attempting to flee the scene in Woodvale Monday.

According to WRIC, the accident occurred within the 13100 block of Kingstone Avenue. Police say three people were in the car when it struck a tree and overturned.

One passenger, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of the crash. The other passenger sustained only minor injuries. The driver, who also sustained minor injuries, got out and attempted to flee on foot.

Police were able to locate and arrested the driver shortly after 2:00 p.m.
