News: 17-year-old driver, others charged after racing leads to fiery collision in Hampton

HAMPTON, VA – Officials with the Virginia State Police have charged a 17-year-old and several other drivers after suspected racing led to a crash Sunday night.

According to WAVY, the accident occurred when five vehicles were racing through the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel at about 9:20 p.m. when one driver lost control and hit the wall twice.

The damaged vehicle then caught fire, filling the tunnel with smoke. Crews were able to evacuate all drivers in the tunnel and no one was injured as a result of the crash.

Those involved in the incident have been charged with a number of charges including reckless driving as a result of the crash.
