News: 1 killed after single-vehicle crash on Mechanicsville Turnpike

HANOVER COUNTY, VA – Officials with the Hanover County Sheriff’s office have reported one death following a single-vehicle crash on the Mechanicsville Turnpike Saturday.

According to WRIC, a man in his 30s died after losing control of his vehicle while in the westbound lanes of the turnpike, near Gethsemane Church of Christ. The victim was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending notification of family members. An investigation into the official cause of the incident is underway.

The collision caused delays for commuters on the Turnpike, as the westbound lanes near Pole Green Road were shut down for several hours following the crash.
